Scottish Harley Tour

: Day 6

Day 6

We cross over to Mallaig on the ferry and stop off at a beach glittering like silver in the sun which bears full comparison to any Caribbean shore. A walk along the beach followed by a sunbathe will come as a welcome change.

On we go to Glen Nevis, one of the largest Scottish glens. Here you can take the mountain gondola up the highest mountain in Great Britain Ben Nevis (4410 ft.) and enjoy the splendid views over Great Glen, Ben Nevis and surrounding areas.

The next highlight of our trip is Glen Coe. It is here that Past and Present unite. Glen Coe owes its fame to the terrible massacre that took place here in 1692 and gave the valley its nickname "Glen of Tears“. A piper can occasionally be heard in the car park beside the "Three Sisters“ mountain range.

Memories of the bloody events coupled with the sound of the bagpipes are enough to send shivers down your spine.

We travel onwards to Rannoch Moor. The impression of a wild, romantic and mystic moor landscape is strengthened by the steep mountains. When the sun breaks through the mist-covered mountains, the moors shine brightly. And when you ride along this stretch, you can literally feel the spirit and history of the Highland Scots as you are transported back to another place in time.

The driving distance is approximately 150 miles.
